We LOVE International Women’s Day.

It is wonderful seeing such fantastic initiatives championing the achievements of women around the world.

It’s also humbling to witness so many people coming together to raise awareness of what desperately still needs to be done in the ongoing fight for women’s rights and equality for all women.

But, as we read about everyone’s initiatives and goings-on, there’s one thing we can’t help thinking again and again:

Why does it have to be just 1 day?

Given the inequality women face across politics, media coverage, health care and the workplace, to name but a few, dedicating just 1 day to women seems, quite frankly, to be taking the piss.

Surely we should be shouting about women – and their myriad accomplishments – not just for a day, not even just for a week, not just for a month…

I know it doesn’t sit well with many of you gals.

The majority of women strive away and simply assume you’ll get the recognition you deserve.

But sadly, it just doesn’t work like that. It’s time ladies take a leaf out of the man-book and start bigging yourselves up, big time.
